[Day 8 - LE] Dune's Eleven

Post by Dorian Drake »

After their warm greeting by Captain Kryubi, Dorian made his way about Wind Pass, looking for someone who would have observed people coming and going (and might be distracted from observing someone going soon), perhaps a head of security for the site?

Lt. Kinet was certainly having a hateful eye on him, tone-deaf to the games Dorian might be playing, and generally deaf. But still having a lasgun an men with lasguns at his disposal. And thopters. He was in the process of telling off his subordinates with his creaking unnatural voice for not being prepared enough to scramble in case of emergency. But from what Dorian could notice on the landing field and in the hangars, the Harkonnen military assets were more than adequate and the servicemen more than capable ot launch a deadly aerial operation. Not a good sign for the escapees.

Seeing his favorite Harkonnen commander there, Dorian approached and picked up a conversation as though he were talking with an old friend, "I didn't think you would be the one in charge of security here, it's odd that you were the one sent to handle the little water thieving creatures in Arrakeen, surely there was someone more readily available near Arrakeen to handle the situation?"

The man faced him with lead-laden silence. His disfiguring scar was staring at Dorian.

Dorian continued on, "Speaking of what happened in Arrakeen, did you hear that the shield belt we found active under the sand had a House Hagal crest on it? Now our man from Hagal was in a thopter and then in the Residency the whole time, but I heard there were some scientists from Hagal here recently. I don't suppose you know if they had any guards with them, anyone that might have been wearing a shield belt around?"

There was no change in reaction. His deafness was apparently very real.

The man obviously did not want to engage with Dorian. He couldn't believe the Harkonnen Lt would have no means of communication, he could speak to give orders. It was already ludicrous that they would put a man in charge who couldn't hold any awareness for his surroundings outside his line of sight. If he were actually here to acquire information, Dorian would give up at this point and go search for someone at least responsive if not more pliable. However, his mission for the time was to distract, so distract he would.

Placing himself squarely in the forefront of Lt. Kinet's point of view, Dorian began pantomiming to the best of his abilities. He mimicked a heighliner coming into Arrakis (drawing the Spacing Guild symbol in the air and then folding his hands like a shuttle touching down), a scientist disembarking (he shuffled around like he'd seen distracted scientists do and pretended to study unimportant objects), a shield belt with the Hagal crest (easy enough he waved his hands in front of his own shield belt and then imitated a clamshell opening with his hands). Finishing this portion, Dorian looked expectantly at Kinet.

"Clown." Kinet said with contempt. "I'd rather watch a stinky Tleilaxu performing. Write down what you want."

Finally getting a response from the brusque man, Dorian smiled secretly to himself and searched for something to write on and with. Once he had the instruments, he wrote a simple message,
Why couldn't you have offered this to begin with? It would've saved quite a bit of time.
Satisfied with the pace of things, the longer this dragged on the better, Dorian took his time carefully drafting his next message with meticulous handwriting,
I am surprised to see you here. I thought you were stationed near Arrakeen? It is odd to think a Lieutenant in charge of security in a distant site like Wind Pass would be called to Arrakeen to take care of a pest problem?

"I serve Bashar Kryubi." The man said with whatever firmness his audibly uncoordinated voice could muster after he had skimmed through the note. "Task doesn't matter."
