Carthag Spaceport has a decidedly commercial bent, and because of what it exports to the Known Universe, it is broken into separate sections. Spice terminals are fortified and enjoy the highest security possible as the official silos are also located there. The delivery into orbit is done with specialised spice shuttles. Everything else is protected just sufficiently, though there is a spatial division between large cargo haulers bringing necessary commodities and machinery to Arrakis, and smaller craft that brings personnel planetside. Finally, the largest airbase of Harkonnen fighter aircraft is a part of the complex, though it is usually half-empty as most of the squadrons have assignments further afield. Overall, traffic is high.

There are typical amenities for short-term visitors who don't want to leave the spaceport area.
