The seat of planetary government in Harkonnen times. The whole monumental structure was built from scratch to reflect the aesthetics familiar to anyone who has at least once visited Giedi Prime. Tall, sheer surfaces of polished rock and metal, with windows, terraces and thopter pads only toward the top. The palace ominously towers over the whole city sprawl of the megalopolis, much more prominently than the Residency over Arrakeen.

What lies within is not entirely clear; the structure is great enough to house many features, from prison complexes to production facilities to garrisons to spice silos. Only very selected passages are open to the visitors, at least to those who come back from their trip inside. The majority doesn't, at least not alive and in one piece. The palace is ever in shortage of new servants, drawn from the population of Carthag by Harkonnen troops according to some specified criteria. What happens with those vacating positions is never mentioned. In addition, the Harkonnen sometimes execute those who have crossed them just by throwing the victims off the top levels of the citadel to the ground.

A broad thoroughfare built for large groundcars and military parades leads to the citadel and it in itself humbles most visitors. Right now it is lined with the rotting heads of some Fremen nomads on tall metal pikes. What earned them the 'honour' to be displayed rather than discarded and forgotten has not been made clear, but they seem to be serving as an example of some sort.

Right now Baron Harkonnen is back on Giedi Prime. The planet is in the hands of Glossu Rabban, Count of Lankiveil, better known as 'The Beast', who enjoys assistance of the House's famous twisted mentat, Piter de Vries, as well as an army of minions, both overt and covert.
