Into the Cinders [EE1]

Fire still raged amid the storehouses; on Dune one didn't kill it with water, but sand. Carryalls were pouring out of their bases on the Shield Wall but they still had to pick up harvesters that needed to be filled with sand rather than spice and open their tubes over the conflagration. Whoever was getting in had to prepare for an artificial version of El-Sayal, the Rain of Sand. Eventually. For now, there was fire.

Cuyler steered the vehicle as close as she dared.
"Where should we start?"

"Leave the fire to the workers. We need to find who's in charge. Or at least who's in charge of security. I'm sure they're busy, but all the more reason to help before the trail of what happened gets too cold."
She had intended that pun so left it out there as is.

When in doubt, always follow your nose.
Fremen had a similar saying, that evil could always be detected by a foul smell.
For Gray's keen sense of smelling, even before she would get out of the car, it occurred immediately that there was something in the air...
Discipline 4 (Smell), but you have things to lower it.

The conditions outside were... unwelcoming, to say the least.

Reins comes to with Kagi licking him, as he steps out of the car he realizes they are not at the residency, his cloak again going to heat reflection mode he turns and looks around.
(Passive Scrutiny: Is there anything that is out of place/seems off?)

Cuyler sniffed the air and looked around. There was something....

Hopefully I did that right.

[Spice Sommelier brings the difficulty down to 3, so the result is pass with +1 Game Momentum.]
Cuyler's expert nose could pick up a few things from the sea of odours of molten silica and plasteel. Explosives, but simple ones, from kitchen ingredients, certainly improvised and not military-grade. But it all seemed to matter less because the dominant stench was that of burnt melange, the unique combination of putrid esters the heat drew out of the spice. Whatever got blown up, there was a lot of spice in it, probably worth millions of solaris, if not more.

Judging by the noises and laser blasts around, the Harkonnen intend to isolate the area. There are thopters above as they seem to be drawing reinforcements from other outposts in the Imperial Basin and Hagga Basin. There area should be swarming with them soon, though they'll likely avoid the conflagration until sand is dropped.

"What a waste." she shook her head. "So much lost spice."

Meanwhile Reyyan stuck herself out of the vehicle's open roof as Miss Gray assessed things, firelight reflecting off the golden parts of her drop armor. She looked around for a Harkonnen who looked above the commoners. Someone who might have some knowledge and authority about the area.

To chance upon a patrol they wouldn't have to wait long and just stay put, though for the brief window of time the Harkonnen were not here yet. The car, being so close to the blast, had arrived ahead of their corralling operation.

"We have a small window if you want to do any looking around before security shows up, Ma'am" He addresses the officer in the car.

Cuyler began to look around, curious as to the true extent of the damage and looking for any signs of how and why it was done.
She avoided getting too close, of course.

It looked like the explosion had been singular as it had a visible radius, though after that many other buildings around had caught fire as well. It were mostly warehouses, boring in their uniformity. Human casualties were hard to find.

"
I think I will. Lady Gray, keep the vehicle ready."
Reyyan vaulted out of the open sunroof she'd been using to look around, tall armored body landing on the sand with an audible thump. She wasn't too worried out the heat and the smoke thanks to said armor and oxygen supply, but a secondary explosion would be another issue entirely. Since no authorities were around she moved quickly to intercept the nearest person who was likely to soon be corralled.
"
You there, halt. I need you to tell me the details of this explosion, or help me find an eye witness who can."
The armored woman's electronically filtered voice was loud and commanding, much like her stature.

This person was running toward the Shield Wall, in some distance from the Levenbrech, though who it could be was hard to tell.

Reins takes a few moments to look over how the warehouses were laid out and what steps could be taken to stop such domino fires from happening in the future, he also keeps an eye open for any signs verifying what the warehouses had in them.

Since they were running from her and apparently not stopping, Reyyan sighed and turned around, going back to the vehicle where Claudius was looking around.
"
If you could run down that individual Lady Gray, block them off please. I mean to have a "chat" with them."

Reyyan called out some corrections with the clarity her helmet's optics gave her, helping the driver the best she could.
