[Day 2 - FMS] Death by Sook Sook

[Dorian Drake]

"Well, if you are the representative, then you must be familiar with the two members of your organization whom we are here to inquire about." Edwell will keep a passive smile on his face while he describes the two men who met their ends earlier this morning in the streets. He will also look for any telltale signs of recognition or alarm in Emrys' demeanor.

[Cuyler Gray]

For her part, Cuyler looked around. She hadn't known what to expect. This was all pretty new to her.

[Kannon]

Emrys Jago listened picking his teeth, not really hiding the annoyance with the whole inquiry.

"You describe those men like you wanted to love them, ha!" He finally replied. "Seven men didn't return from the pogrom. I don't know men by their pimples, but I, Emrys Jago, think the two didn't return. We have other men though if you want!"

Emrys got interested in Cuyler. He winked at her. "I like your hair! Very curly!"

[Kannon]

Ahmina now realised that Cuyler was so much a Chani lookalike that it was eerie, just with curly hair, less desiccated, without nose plugs deformities, and without the Eyes of Ibad. She was sure that Chani took after Faroula, but maybe not? Maybe Liet had children on other worlds?

[Bomilcar Thorvald]

Bomilcar listened and watched. In particular, he was observing the observers. Anyone paying attention to the conversation too intently for their own good.

Looking at the kindjal on the man's hip, but looking back at the intimidating presence that was Bomilcar and their Sardaukar escort, Edwell felt confident in pushing the matter further.

"As I said, we are here for business not pleasure. The men in question were not eliminated by the Harkonnens and they weren't the sort that most would seek for pleasure. These were men used for more nefarious deeds... such as an assassination attempt." Edwell maintains his passive smile while speaking, not showing any hint at hostility or anger in his words.

[Kannon]

The man scowled.

"You come to my place on some business I, Emrys Jago, have no part of, you don't give me your name, you refuse hospitality, you accuse of nefarious deeds I didn't commit! You think that stern fighting man gives you some right to make demands! You are both foolish and rude! Go to the Harkonnen with your questions! You leave or I throw you out!"

Before responding, Edwell studied the man. Was he speaking whole or partial truths? Was he actually offended or merely trying to cover his involvement? Was he even part of the Water Sellers' Union?

He seemed genuinely truthful, and genuinely offended.

"My apologies Mr. Jago, as I stated before, we were looking for the representative of the Water Sellers' Union. We believed this to be the location, and you did not dispute that assertion.

You may call me Mr. Santini, who we are was not important until we had established we were speaking with the right person. Are you the representative for the Arrakeen branch of the Water Sellers' Union?

If you are, than what we have to say is your business, even if it may not be the business you prefer to conduct. We did not come here to make accusations, but to conduct business."

[Kannon]

"For a man I haven't done any business with before, I, Emrys Jago, am representative enough, and I decide if I want any business with you! What is your business proposal then? It better be attractive." The man actually stood up in case he had to deliver on his earlier declaration. The woman who had been fanning him vanished behind one of the beaded curtains.

[Cuyler Gray]

Cuyler continued to look around as Edwell dealt with the situation.

[Bomilcar Thorvald]

When the other man stood Bomilcar looked to him. He tilted his head to the right, until a series of cracks could be heard, returning it to a neutral position after. There is no sense of concern from the Thorvald bastard, but there is also no change in posture. He was just readying for defense if necessary and apparently had no interest in starting anything at the moment.

[Cuyler Gray]

"Emrys." Seeing the rising tensions,, Cuyler turned her attention to the man and stepped toward him. "We mean no insult and are not seeking conflict. We'd rather make friends, than enemies. But, we don't know each other and misunderstandings are to be expected. Perhaps we can change that?"

[Kannon]

"We can change that!" He said. "Come sit with me and enjoy my water." He folded his legs into a seat with a grace indicating very well-trained combat muscles. He then gestured to a place beside him, near the sealed water flagon. There was no poison snooper in sight.

[Cuyler Gray]

She took the offered seat. "What should I share with you in return?"

[Kannon]

"It's never bad to start with a story! A story of you!" Emrys chuckled. He was comofrtable letting everyone else stand there while he talked with Cuyler. He opened the flagon and poured water for both of them, carefully, not to spill a drop. Clean, potable water. That whole flagon could probably buy a house in Arrakeen.

[Bomilcar Thorvald]

The lack of a sniffer left him feeling wary, but the whole thing felt more like bragging than threatening. Well, if Cuyler dropped dead he'd simply make sure their host had a knife in him as quickly as possible.

[Cuyler Gray]

"About me? I'm a chef and sommelier." she explained. "In particular, I'm skilled in ensuring that every ingredient I use is as fresh and pure as possible."

She studied the water as she would any drink, looking it over, inhaling it's aroma and, if satisfied, taking the smallest sip to taste.

The man may not be lying, but that didn't mean he was trustworthy. Edwell wanted to step in and stop Ms. Gray from drinking the water, but he knew the woman and had faith in her judgement.

[Kannon]

"About me? I'm a chef and sommelier." she explained. "In particular, I'm skilled in ensuring that every ingredient I use is as fresh and pure as possible."

She studied the water as she would any drink, looking it over, inhaling it's aroma and, if satisfied, taking the smallest sip to taste.

She detected no poison. Emrys had just drunk from the same supply without holding back. The water was not only pure, but also relatively cool, an oddity on this planet.

"I, Emrys Jago, don't know some words that you have just used by I like fresh and pure!" The man laughed, making his muscles vibrate. "But what are you famous for! You must have fame! I, Emrys Jago, am the first kindjal of Arrakeen! At least when the Count is not around, if the rumours about him are true!"

Dismissively, Emrys gestured for those standing to sit down on some cushions scattered around.

[Cuyler Gray]

She took a longer drink. "Famous? Not really. If I'm known for anything, I supposed it would be for my senses. Sight, scent, hearing, taste and even touch, they are all very strong. They allow me to perceive things others cannot, such as the quality of water or spice melange. Your water is very good, by the way."

[Dorian Drake]

Edwell took a seat on one of the offered cushions. He continued to watch and study Emrys Jago, but did not interfere in Ms. Gray's chat with the man.

[Kannon]

"Ah, I would like to share my sweat with you if you are so sensitive! You see I have the best kindjal and the best water!" Emrys said with audacious honesty. His innuendo wasn't subtle, but given his sense of pride he could still be meaning power and wealth. "Even as your name has not been spoken yet! Your friend said you are not here for pleasure though, but for business. And you?"

"My name is Cuyler and I am honored that you would sweat for me." she smiled. "As for our business, it can be pleasant. We'd like to be friends. But, we have questions we'd like answers to."
