Fortune Passes Everewhere? [Pregame]

[Kannon]

There is a commotion between the Guild security personnel and some functionary of House Dinovo at one of the security posts along the thoroughfare.

"This is an outrage! I must see the body! The Count shall hear of this! The information you have provided is thoroughly insufficient!"

[Bomilcar Thorvald]

Bomilcar stepped up a few steps from the argument, gauging what exactly what's happening and why there was a body being spoke of.

He looks to the Dinovo member the guild security individual, parsing it all out.

[Kannon]

"The remains shall not be released without toxicology test. They are quarantined. Please stay calm. All is according to the procedures of the Spacing Guild." The blase, and slightly disfigured Guild officer replied. His forehead was swollen and pockmarked.

"This overdose is a sham! It was an assassination! I must act on this, now! Doesn't the Guild ensure security?" The Dinovo shouted.

"The Spacing Guild cannot protect its passengers from themselves. Please stay calm." The blase man replied with an exact same tone as before.

[Bomilcar Thorvald]

"Who was it?" Bomilcar says as he steps up to the Dinovo noble, who had more to gain by bringing in another potential dissenter to Spacing Guild bureaucracy. If there were threats on the loose, and killing this early in the whole ordeal, he was keenly interested in finding out.

[Kannon]

'It was Lima, Hecate's best friend! We were just returning from Hagal with the couture!" The man was too unsettled to explain who was Hecate, or perhaps he assumed the man knew that. "And who are you, sir?"

The bighead stared up. He seemed to be doing his job just by refusing information and denying access.

[Bomilcar Thorvald]

"Bomilcar Thorvald," he clipped, not seeming annoyed or overwhelmingly interested. He doesn't really care if he's been heard of, as he gathers information to gauge the situation. "And you?"

Then he looked to the security post attendant. "And you." He knew the implication of asking security personnel just doing their job what their name was. The security official likely did too.

[Kannon]

"Hos'n Orantis, serving House Dinovo." The man, fop by the look of him, was visibly distraught in addition to being angry.

The Guildsman shrugged with brows alone. "We are the Guild. Cease interference. This is being handled according to the regulations."

[Bomilcar Thorvald]

"Inquiry isn't interference," Bomilcar replied, looking at the Guildsman. "Your name, and credentials. For my report."

[Ahmina]

Another man moved towards the commotion. He was calm but there was a sharpness in his eyes when he heard about the 'overdose'.

He was listening and observing, for now

[Bomilcar Thorvald]

The observing individual is given a nod, accepting their approach if they wish, but Bomilcar continues to await the answer.

[Kannon]

The Guildsman traded gazes with another one behind him. With them, there was no telling which one was more important. "We are the Guild and you have no authority here, and no right to make demands. You travel at our pleasure. Your insistence is detrimental to the credibility of your house for the time it shall ask for any transit, any shipping contract with us, or for a Guild Bank loan. We may forego this incident in our report if you desist now." The man's tone didn't change... mostly.

The bighead looked at the man that approached. After a moment of what seemed like an inward click, he spoke again. "Passenger number K/A-CC77R12/8/90: Cybillus Ayawa, you have experience with our transit rules. Please educate passenger number K/A-CC77Y23/1/90: Bomilcar Thorvald of the folly of challenging the Guild. We have an emergency to handle and he is interfering and so infringing on the transit protocols."

"You damnable Guild, he is just trying to help!" Orantis puffed his lips, but his fists opened and closed in helplessness. "For million hells, if she had really got that damnable new drug, it must have been on this heighliner, from those Wayku peddlers of yours! She had no chance of doing anything that stupid on Hagal!" The man's voice was laced with fear, as if his potential culpability out of negligence portended a very bleak reception on his return to Enfeil, the homeworld of House Dinovo.

[Bomilcar Thorvald]

Looking between them all during exchanges, his expression remains stoic. If the threat seemed to bother him it didn't show. "No authority isn't no power."

He looks to Orantis. "Everything's got a breaking point." He paused to clear is throat lightly. "Remind them of this someday."

[Ahmina]

At this point the observer decided to step up and came forward rising his hands in a sign of peace

''Gentlemen, gentlemen...let us calm down. Riling ourselves up will do no one good; it can only create problems for all of us...'' he moves toward the worried man form Dinovo, putting a hand on his shoulder ''I can imagine the situation your are in, friend, but there is nothing you can do at the moment. Join me for a drink, it is on me, and tell me of your plight while the honorable guildsman do their work.''

Turning his head to the other man, Bomilcar, he continued

''Please come as well...there is a time and place for everything but here and now are not it''

[Bomilcar Thorvald]

Bomilcar simply nods to the newcomer. Not feeling a need to expand further from this.

[Kannon]

"One does not prosper holding grudges against the Guild." The man sighed, reconciling with the situation for the time being, nodding to the newcomer. "I can't revive her either way. Princess Hecate will be heartbroken, she is an honest soul, the couture we have bought for her wouldn't sweeten it by any measure." He began walking away. "The whole thing it has all been for may fall through anyway."

[Bomilcar Thorvald]

"Condolences," he replied to the man. He then turns to face the other direction offering to have the other's join him with a gesture. "What was it for?"

[Kannon]

"I am not entirely at liberty to provide the details, but let's say our House Mentat has figured out that the pursuits of a mentat of another House Major were meant to establish eligibility of Princess Hecate for marriage with their scion." The man probably needed just a little push, maybe a couple of drinks, to spill the beans, because of how distraught he was. "The Count saw it as advantageous, and while we have been waiting for the official inquiry to arrive, Hecate called for a less girlish wardrobe to be composed for her, something that would communicate the position of House Dinovo better. Her best friend was supposed to take care of it... and now she is gone. Maybe that arrangement can only be ill-fated!"

[Ahmina]

''Fate is still in motion, friend, do not despair yet.'' he guided the pair to the nearest booth were they could order alcohol and talk without being heard

''This girl...you seemed certain she would not use such a drug. Could you tell us about her?''

[Kannon]

"She was under tremendous stress, Hecate had put her on the line there, and Hagal is a world full of splendours, something that can awe any young lady... Back on Enfeil we have no drugs policy in the palace, maybe a bit of spice in the coffee, but nothing more, and not even that now given how expensive it's become, except for the royal family... nearly 80 thousand solaris per gram! I was meant to watch over her, in case she had some temptations, and I thought I did the job!" His fist tightened.

[Bomilcar Thorvald]

Bomilcar followed along, listening to the other two for now. He appreciated when he could let someone else do the bulk of the talking, so he did not look a gift-worm in the mouth.

[Ahmina]

Cybillus listened and observed closely

''You cannot be everywhere nor see everything, friend...'' they arrived at a place they could speak ''What can I get you two gentlemen to drink?''

[Kannon]

"I'd say Zincal, but in these circumstances..." He bit his tongue, hoping they would miss the inference.

[Bomilcar Thorvald]

"What you're having," is the response to the offered drink.

He was paying close attention, but also keeping an eye out as well. Because it is his nature, not because he expected anything.

[Ahmina]

''Three tumblers of whiskey then.'' he said with a nod ''Good for the soul and for the body''

He waived the waiter

[Kannon]

Orantis nodded in agreement, staying mum for a while, not certain about how much they had realised.
