Sparring Club [Pregame]

[Dorian Drake]

Dorian stood in the middle of the floor, slowly moving through his stances while spinning his blades from forward to reverse grips as appropriate, warming up for the matches to come.

[Bomilcar Thorvald]

Bomilcar arrives at the appointed time, greeting as he approaches. "Lord be with you," he says, his tone quiet.

[Reyyan Ebrahammi]

Reyyan is prompt as well, looking around before speaking up, "I suppose it would not be fair for me to spar in my armor, no? Or do the two of you not care one way or the other?"

She was obviously sans helmet anyways, but the rest of the Sardaukar's form fitting environment suit was on indeed.

[Bomilcar Thorvald]

"Not a problem," Bomilcar replied, taking in both of the potential sparring opponents. "Your choice."

He readied his own blade to prepare for some exercises of his own. The shape was one that was usually reserved for Thorvald traditionalists, harkening back to a bygone age. And while it had a somewhat rough appearance to it, that seemed to be either because of aesthetic preference or a great deal of use.

"And with you." Dorian replies dutifully to Bomilcar.

"I suppose that would depend on the rules of our spar. I usually practice with shields on and go to first blood," he runs his thumb along some of the scars on his arm, "but we could just as easily stop short."

He goes back to spinning his kindjals in slow but intricate patterns, their rotation on the pivoting rings and movement through the air become mesmerizing.

"First strike under shields," he replies with a counter offer. It was how he sparred with his unit back home so he was completely comfortable with it.

[Dorian Drake]

"Since this is our first time sparring with Sir Thorvald and so Levenbrech Ebrahammi can practice in her armor as she would actually fight, we will stop short after piercing our opponent's shield."

Dorian steps back and takes a defensive stance, blades dancing elegantly, but ready to challenge any intrusion.

"So who is first?"

[Bomilcar Thorvald]

Bomilcar steps up, and watches the swordmasters weapons with a keen eye. He can see his opponent is skilled and offers the proper respect with a nod. He appreciated a fair fight and suspected that he was outmatched in skill by someone likely more focused in their training.

The elegant movements of the trained duelist are a stark contrast to the bodyguard who moves much more slowly and deliberately, as he begins the dance, sidestepping in a circle with him.

Then he sees his opportunity and strikes out with his saex in a chopping motion to send Dorian's right handed blade to the floor.

Since it's shield piercing, the armor stays on and Reyyan pulls out her blade.



It's a sort of hollow dagger attached to a thin and lightweight purple metal line, the reel for which is behind her knife's sheath. She gives it a few swings before catching the grip in her left hand.

As Bomilcar attacks his right hand, Dorian shifts his body with the momentum of Bomilcar's attack to bring his left hand around and attack the man's seax from the hilt. Unfortunately, Bomilcar's grip was firm and he was not to be disarmed.

[Bomilcar Thorvald]

The attack on Bomilcar's hilt saves Dorian as the blade is moving in a downward direction just a bit too quickly to pierce the shield. Not quite slow enough as it makes contact and is pushed out. Though because of the fervor that he chased the finishing blow he was more exposed.

As Bomilcar strikes too quickly against his shield, Dorian took the opportunity to trap the blade with his own and disarm Bomilcar.

Taking a step back, he swings the seax for a moment to test the balance, before flipping it to hold by the blade and offer the handle to Bomilcar.

"That was an invigorating exchange, thank you." He says as he bows to Bomilcar.

He takes the blade back and slips it away into the sheath. "Good match."

Seeing as Dorian stepped away, he reached down to pick up his opponent's blade and hand it back. With that he steps away to make room for the winner to face the waiting.

Dorian gratefully accepted his kindjal from Bomilcar and turned to face Reyyan, beckoning to her with his blades. He stepped back and took a guarded stance, holding his blades in a reverse grip.
